This National Register Inn and private residence was built in 1840 as a summer home by the Thomas J. Sloan family then known as " Home Place ". In 1905 it was purchased by Boneau Harris Family, he was the first agricultural Commissioner of South Carolina and was overseer of Woodburn Plantation located 2 miles away.
Following a number of years of decline, the house underwent extensive restoration and opened in 1985 as Liberty Hall Inn and is now the centerpiece of four acres of lawns and gardens. Each of the seven expansive guest rooms bears its own historic significance and is beautifully appointed with antiques and other décor; emphasizing its individual personality.
To further ensure maximum comfort, all rooms have private bath, telephone service, television and central air conditioning. All rooms come with full breakfast starting at 8:00 am and complimentary wine on arrival.

When you first step into this farmhouse, which was constructed in 1908, you feel as though you are stepping back in time. While the home is elegantly designed and decorated it is still warm and very inviting. You will immediately fall in love with the high ceilings, wide decorative molding, oversized windows, and the hardwood floors. If the 12-foot ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors are not enough then you maybe impressed by the wrap around porch, back deck, or the hot tub in the courtyard. The wrap around porch is fully covered and also has a screened in area. All three rooms have a working fireplace.

Rocky Retreat Bed and Breakfast is a classic example of an upcountry plantation house. It has a large central hallway that allows breezes to blow through on pleasant days. A spacious front porch, screened side porch and back deck overlook historic farm buildings, wooded vistas and native flora.
The two spacious upstairs bedrooms have private baths with claw foot tubs, working gas log fireplaces, and big windows on three sides. Downstairs is the two-bedroom suite with connecting bath. Both rooms have double beds and a rollaway single can be added, making this a perfect arrangement for families with older children. These rooms can also be rented separately.
All rooms have the original heart pine floors and wall paneling, and have been furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques chosen to make you feel right at home. To maintain the quiet environment, guestrooms do not have telephones or televisions.
Breakfast is served each morning from 7:30-9:00 in the arts-and-crafts’ style dining room.
