Community celebrations will offer festive fun for adults and kids alike

Anderson, SC (October 19, 2020) – Anderson Mall announced Fall Community Day and Candy Crawl to celebrate the fall season with the community. Now that the school year is underway and fall is here, Anderson Mall is excited to host the following festive gatherings this month.

Fall Community Day at Anderson Mall will celebrate the season with fun for the whole family on October 24 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anderson Mall in partnership with Healthy Blue SC will feature a number of activities such as essential giveaways, a variety of local vendors, kid’s activities and more. Through events like Fall Community Day, Anderson Mall continues to embrace its commitment to giving back to the Anderson community and the people it serves.

Candy Crawl offers a fun, safe place for local families to trick-or-treat on October 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the main entrance parking lot. Anderson Mall will host an outdoor trunk a treat presented by US Led in partnership with Street Motion. Guests can enjoy activities and entertainment such as costume contests, candy, food trucks, character appearances such as, Chase from Paw Patrol and Elsa from Frozen, and much more.

Anderson Mall remains focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. In response to the continued need to address COVID-19, the Center has proactively implemented additions to the Code of Conduct, effective until further notice. These additions include the following guidelines:

·         Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.

·         Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover in accordance with state and local guidelines.

·         Do not gather in groups.

·         Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.

·         Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates regarding COVID-19.

In addition, Anderson Mall already rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices will continue, many times per day, including periodically disinfecting areas most susceptible to the spread of germs. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are located in highly-trafficked areas and walkways for public use.

Do you like art, but aren’t in a position to buy expensive pieces? Are you an interior decorator looking for great finds for your clients? Maybe you’re an avid art collector who is looking for a great deal! The Art Market is for you!

The Anderson Arts Center is hosting an Art Market November 5-19 at their historical Carnegie Building on 405 North Main Street.

This market will include a vast collection of work from various artists as well as previously owned work from collectors…and everything is priced to sell!

Items will include paintings, photography, jewelry, and ceramics. 

The market kicks off with a Sip ’n’ Shop on Thursday, November 5 from 5-7 p.m. Operating hours for the market are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission to the Art Market is free.

On Thursday, November 12, the Arts Center will host a blood drive during market hours. The Jay Bloomer Memorial Blood Drive will be held in memory of former board member Jay Bloomer, who lost his battle with cancer last October. To donate blood, you must make an appointment. The Anderson Arts Center is offering a variety of age-appropriate workshops for youth ages 6-18. Younger students will enjoy holiday themed classes, and older students will be offered classes with a variety of artistic techniques.

Acrylic Painting Together 

Ages 9 – 12

Students will learn about different brush styles and how they impact a painting and have a chance to practice them. They will then do a Bob Ross style follow along painting of their own to take home and display.

Students will get into the Halloween spirit with a Halloween themed follow along painting to take home and make part of your Halloween décor for years to come.

Students will learn a bit about Joan Miro’s art and life. Then they will create a mixed media piece of art in his style.

Students will learn the basics of printmaking and then create several mono print designs of their own to take home and display.

Students will learn and practice various watercolor techniques. Then they will use one or more of the techniques covered in an illustrative watercolor painting to take home and display.

Students will get into the Christmas spirt with a follow along Christmas themed follow along painting to take home and make part of your Christmas décor for years to come.

It’s that time again!  Get ready to hear about ghoulies and ghosties that make their home in Belton as you stroll down the historic streets during the Belton Area Museum Association’s fourth annual Halloween Ghost Walk.

Six all-new historic properties are on the tour. Zalin’s Department Store (present-day Palmetto Roots Salon), the Cobb/Garrett House, the The Charles Berry Lewis House, the Floride Cox House, the Central School, and  the site of the original city jail (present day Belton Tire Company) are all scheduled stops.  Exteriors of homes and businesses will be accessible and spine-tingling stories attached to each property will be shared by costumed presenters of the Belton-Honea Path High School drama team.

Price per person ($10 adults, $5 children 10 and under) includes guided tours of historic properties and unusual entertainment. Purchasing advanced tickets is encouraged as slots fill up quickly.  Price rises to $15 if purchased the day of the event.

Tours begin at 6 PM and will depart from the depot every 15 minutes until 8:15 PM. Each tour will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Limited slots are available. Tours will be family-friendly in content.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting or calling the museum during regular opening hours, Wednesday–Friday, 9 – 2 and Saturday 10 – noon.

Make plans to attend now. All attendees should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight. Wearing facemasks and practicing social distancing is encouraged.
