In recognition of Black History Month, Heritage & History will focus on the regiment of the 33rd United States Colored Troops (USCT) or First South Carolina Volunteers assigned to Upstate South Carolina and in particular, Anderson County. Learn about these soldiers’ experiences as we discuss their travels and duties in our region, their interactions with locals, and the social environment they encountered in postbellum South Carolina.
