It has been over 125 years since William Whitner flipped the switch on Anderson’s first hydroelectric plant in May of 1895. His ingenuity enabled Anderson County to charge into the textile boom of the early twentieth century. Heritage & History will explore who W. C. Whitner was, the struggles he faced, successes he enjoyed, as well as the family and friends who contributed to that legendary day at High Shoals.
