Unveiling of StoryWalk and Information Signs at KidVenture 2.0 Playground and Chris Taylor Memorial Park

Anderson County, South Carolina – The Anderson County Library System and Anderson
County are thrilled to announce the unveiling of an exciting new addition to Kidventure 2.0
Playground and Chris Taylor Memorial Park – a StoryWalk and informational signs. This
collaborative initiative aims to promote literacy, outdoor engagement, and community enrichment
for residents and visitors alike.
The *StoryWalk is a unique concept that combines the joy of reading with the beauty of nature.
Families can now engage with a story as they stroll along the pathway just outside of the
Kidventure 2.0 Playground. Pages from a fun children’s book will be displayed at regular intervals,
inviting children and their families to read, engage, and explore the magic of reading in an outdoor
setting.
Additionally, visitors to Chris Taylor Memorial Park will now benefit from informational signs
placed around the pond area. These signs provide insights into the park’s ecosystem, local
wildlife, and promote both physical activity and a connection to the library.
“This partnership between the Anderson County Library System and the Department of Parks,
Recreation and Tourism represents a creative fusion of education and recreation,” said Annie
Sutton, Director of the Anderson County Library System. “The StoryWalk encourages a love for
reading and learning while promoting physical activity, and the informational signs provide a
unique opportunity for park visitors to engage with their surroundings on a new level.”
“We are excited to unveil these enhancements to Kidventure 2.0 Playground and Chris Taylor
Memorial Park Pond,” said Councilman John Wright, Jr., Anderson County Council District One.
“These additions reflect our commitment to providing enriching experiences for our community
members and showcasing the natural beauty of Anderson County.”
The unveiling ceremony for the StoryWalk and informational signs will take place during Celebrate
Anderson weekend on September 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Kidventure 2.0 Playground. The
event will feature remarks from county officials, the library’s Bookmobile, and opportunities for
families to explore the StoryWalk and pond area.
This collaborative effort between the Anderson County Library System and the Anderson County
Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism promises to be a cornerstone of education and
enjoyment for years to come.
