Girls’ Day Out in Anderson County

Did you know March is Women’s History Month? The third month of the year is all about celebrating the great women who made history and impacted the world. In the spirit of the holiday, bring the celebration closer to home and show the women in your life just how much they have impacted you! Whether it’s date night, a girls’ trip, a family outing, or a solo adventure to treat yourself, these destinations around Anderson County are the perfect way to show some love to the ladies.

Nothing says a special occasion like a spa day, and we have just the salon for you! Book an appointment at Lilia Day Spa in downtown Anderson, and you’ll be pampered start to finish. This unique spa is located in a historic building, and on top of the luxurious à la carte treatments they also offer packages with multiple services or for multiple people! You’ll be feeling rejuvenated in no time. Cap off your no-fuss day with a stay at a cute bed-and-breakfast like The Gray House, where your room is ready to go and they’ll provide the yummy food.

If pampering isn’t your thing, a more rugged option is to escape to a nice, lakefront hideaway for a weekend. Look into renting a cabin near Lake Hartwell for a few days of serenity with no kids, no work, and nothing but great vibes. Check out the Cast-A-Way Cabins near Broyles Landing for a charming mini-vacation. Or, if you love the appeal of camping but don’t love the tents and sleeping on the rocky ground, you may want to book a cottage with Lake Hartwell Cabins and Camping. A Lake Hartwell retreat is the perfect blend of comfort and rusticity with stunning views: we love to sip a coffee and watch the sun rise over the lake alongside the perfect company!

Gifts are a great way to show you care, and there are plenty of one-of-a-kind boutiques with the perfect gift for her – or a “just because” gift for yourself, too! Strolling Main Street in downtown Anderson, you’ll find a great selection of women-owned businesses. Stop in a fashionista’s paradise like Cate’s or Maren + Main to find stunning clothes and accessories. Swing by Kitchen Emporium for a new accent in your home, and while you’re there, be sure to pick up a bottle of wine as well. Hop in the car and drive over to Iron Lace Bookstore, a cozy shop filled to the brim with riveting reads – including an entire room of romance novels. You can stock up on the perfect surprises for all your loved ones with our wide selection of shops.

When it’s time for food and drinks, you can’t go wrong with these delicious offerings. The Blue Heron Restaurant and Sushi Bar in downtown Pendleton offers a deal on sushi rolls every Thursday, so if you’re out for date night this restaurant is a winning choice. Another mouth-watering destination is Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill. This fine-dining restaurant is a perfect place to get dressed up with your girlfriends and appreciate these chefs’ culinary prowess. You can also celebrate a strong woman of Anderson County here: husband-and-wife team William and Sabra Nickas opened Sullivan’s in 1999, and Sabra innovated as the restaurant’s pastry chef and co-owner until she unfortunately passed away from breast cancer in 2019. Enjoy one of their desserts and appreciate her legacy with each bite.

Be careful never to overindulge, but since we’re celebrating all month long, you’ll have plenty of time to sample the hand-crafted cocktails at all these venues! The Common House beckons on weekend evenings with their cocktail menu, focused on classic drinks with a modern twist – like Basil Gimlets and the Lavender 75. UP on the Roof provides an elegant atmosphere with its menu of bottled cocktails or elevated classics made with fresh-squeezed fruit juice. Try to drop by as the sun is setting for exquisite views overlooking downtown Anderson! One more must-visit gastropub is the Fickle Palate, located in the historic Cox Oil Co. building. The expert bartenders already offer a unique list of cocktails, but these knowledgeable mixologists are up to the challenge of crafting a custom drink for you to sip on, too.

Moms, sisters, daughters, partners, grandmas, friends, and maybe even you: take some time to celebrate the strong women in your life this March!
