ANDERSON, SC – Sports Destination Management, the leading publication with the largest circulation of sports event planners and tournament directors in the sports tourism market, has announced the 2020 and 2021 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism Presented by Traveling Teams. This year’s winners are responsible for contributing a more-than-welcome boost of over $400 million to the national economy over the past year.
Among the winners was the TBF High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship produced in cooperation with Visit Anderson & Anderson County.
The Bass Federation (TBF) High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship took place on Lake Hartwell on June 30 through July 3, 2021. The four-day event featured 398 boats from across the United States, Canada, and Africa. Each competing boat featured two anglers as well as a boat captain. Teams competed for scholarship monies and the right to be considered a World Champion and a National Champion. The event contributed more than 8,000 room nights in the Anderson community and amassed an economic impact that exceeded $2 million.
