On February 16, the Anderson Arts Center will open its annual Youth Art Month exhibit. Students from elementary, middle and high school grade levels from public, private and home school associations participate in this juried art show.
More than 600 entries are submitted, and approximately 35 students receive awards for their work. First, second and third place award recipients cash prizes and several honorable mention ribbons are presented.
In addition to the awards presented by the juror, approximately 20 pieces of artwork are selected for an extended exhibition at AnMed Health; and, new to this year’s show is an extended exhibition of selected pieces in the Gallery Cafe at McDougald Funeral Home.
The opening reception for Youth Art Month is Sunday, February 16, 1-3 p.m. at the Arts Center. The awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
In addition to the Youth Art Month exhibition, students of T.L. Hanna’s art department will present a Wearable Art Exhibition on Saturday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. This exhibition will be presented at the Anderson Arts Center, and tickets are required. Tickets are only $10 per person (children under 5 are free), and may be purchased at the TL Hanna front office or at http://tl-hanna-high-school.square.site.
